Short Stay in Singapore

Last month my friend Tocarra invited me to join her and her friends on a trip to Singapore and Bali. We flew from Washington, D.C. to Singapore with a connection in Dubai with Emirates. I’m so glad we took a few days to soak up a new place before heading to our final destination. We did a lot of walking around on this leg of the trip. Let’s just say the sun was hotter than any summer I’ve ever experienced in Houston. It was hot!!!! Nonetheless, we took advantage of our time and had a pretty full itinerary during our stay. Here’s a full run down of where we stayed, what we ate, and what we did within the three days we explored.

  • We used a shuttle service to get from the airport to our hotel. For a group of six, it was $8.37.

  • Our first home away from home was the Hilton Garden Inn in Little India. Just a few steps outside the hotel and we were amongst the locals.

  • We had a fun night out at Altitude. This is a good spot for food, drinks, and dancing.

  • We walked through Arab Street/Haji Street and grabbed a selfie coffee while we were there.

  • On our first night out we ventured out and ate at a local hawker. The locals can point you in the right direction if you want to visit one to try some local food.

  • We checked into the Marina Bay Sands Hotel on our last day in Singapore. The hotel is absolutely stunning and the pool alone is a whole vibe. If you’re a fan of the movie Crazy Rich Asians, this is where the engagement party at the end of the movie was filmed.

  • Connected to the hotel is the Marina Bay Shoppes. If you are a fan of Louis Vitton, you might be interested in visiting the Louis Vuitton Island Maison that is connected to the Shoppes via a tunnel. The store is stunning and happens to sit on a floating pavilion.

  • We walked through Merlin Park and visited the Gardens by the Bay. Both are in very close proximity to the Marina Bay Hotel and the later is also featured in the movie Crazy Rich Asians!

  • Dinner on our last night was at Spago Bar & Lounge, located in the hotel. It was delish!!!!

  • For transportation we used the Grab App or asked the hotel to call us a taxi.
